Kings of Israel

God's people wanted a king so that they could "be like everyone else" (I Samuel 8:5), so Saul was anointed the first king of Israel. However, God carried out his promise of sending Jesus to the world through David and Solomon (Matthew 1:1-6).

1 - Saul    2 - David    3 - Solomon

After Solomon's reign, the kingdom was divided into the ten tribes of the North and two tribes of the South.
