What Must I Do to Be Saved?

Through the grace of God the Father (Ephesians 2:8-9) and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross (Romans 5:6-9), every person has the opportunity to be saved. Notice what the Bible says concerning what is necessary to become a Christian:

1. Hear the Gospel

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17)

2. Believe in Jesus Christ

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

3. Repent of Sins

"I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." (Luke 13:3)

4. Confess Faith

"That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

5. Be Baptized for the Remission of Sins

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned." (Mark 16:16)

"Then Peter said to them, 'Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38)

"There is also an antitype which now saves us, namely baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ." (I Peter 3:21)

6. Be Faithful until Death

"Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life." (Revelation 2:10b)
